When ignition is off, the relay opens immediately, should the voltage on the main battery drop below 12 / 24 volts for 2 seconds whilst the engine is running, the relay will drop out, prioritising charging current to the main battery. The IRD senses the voltage on the main battery of a 12 / 24v system, when this voltage goes above 13.3 / 26.6 volts for 12 seconds, the IRD ECU will close the isolator relay, providing charging current to the aux battery. The diode type battery isolator uses semiconductor diodes to split the current from the alternator or generator and charge 2 or more batteries at the same time. The ECU operates in conjunction with the Intellitec Silver Can relay, there are just three connections to be made, one from an ignition switched source,an earth, the last being the relay coil. When the alternator is charging the main battery, the isolator will allow current to also flow to the auxiliary battery. They also prevent extra devices in the vehicle from completely draining the main battery. Presenta una baja caída de tensión gracias a la utilización de diodos Schottky de alta. Battery isolators make sure that extra batteries in a dual or multiple battery system are charged properly. Por ejemplo, al descargar la batería de servicio no se descarga la batería de arranque, y viceversa. Wiring dual battery isolator is provided by The isolators provided on are voltage-sensitive relays with smart technology that makes them simple in application but provide more efficient operation through the elimination of the large diodes in other isolators. The IRD ECU is fully potted in a plastic enclosure for mounting in the engine compartment. El puente de diodo Argodiode permite cargar simultáneamente dos o más baterías desde el mismo alternador, sin conectar las baterías entre sí. This allows the use of self exciting alternators and lets the engine briefly warm up prior to placing the load of a heavily discharged battery on the alternator. Unlike diode isolators, the IRD provides the engine driven alternator with the opportunity to begin charging the main battery before connecting the auxiliary battery. Intellitec’s Isolator Relay Delay (IRD) offers a low cost, reliable approach to charging multiple batteries.
